Brought to you by "The Weekend Winers"

"It's Not About the Wine; Just the Experience."

As a couple of folks who enjoy good wine and a little back roads adventure, we want to share our visits to the wineries nearby. The number of wineries in North Carolina and Virginia continues to grow, and as we travel to as many of them as we can, we'll offer our impressions, and just maybe some information you don't normally find in the brochures. We hope you find Byway & Vine enjoyable, informative, and a place where you can share your experiences too.

Brandon Hills Vineyard

Continuing on the Shallow Ford Wine Trail we happened upon a new addition to the North Carolina wine scene, Brandon Hills Vineyard. Located just south of Yadkinville on Brandon Hills Road this winery has yet to celebrate a first birthday. Brandon Hills is also part of the Yadkin Valley Vine Trail.

When you first arrive, if you believe biggest is the best once inside it is our opinion you will change that opinion. A beautiful appointed nook, includes a serving bar and sleek copper topped bar area facing a beautiful aquarium.

Not to be out done by the interior; outside, a large covered porch overlooks the lush green landscape of the vineyard.

The winery advocates a philosophy of “staying small” and is positioned as a boutique Vineyard; which it embraces by not offering their wine for sale anywhere but on site. This is a family business and a labor of love of a David and Pam Blackwell both workers and owners.
The day of our visit we had the pleasure of being served their fine wine by another family member, Adrian, helping out mom and company before shipping out to the Navy.

After enjoyable informative and enjoyable conversation we gained insight into the dedication the Blackwell family has to their new venture.
Make certain you mark this location on your map for a Weekend Winer visit. Our best to Adrian on his new adventure; we hope he enjoys wine from other countries first hand before his tour is up.

The winery is a few miles south of Yadkinville and Hwy 421; it is located between Hwy 601 and Hwy 21 on Brandon Hills Road which runs between Neelie Rd and Bethel Church Road.
